President Jonathan Gave Peter Obi N8 Billion to Rig Anambra Election – APC

Must read

More revelations have come to light on how Nigeria’s President, Goodluck single-handedly gave Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State a whooping sum of N8 billion to prosecute the election. This expose was made Wednesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Lai Mohammed in Oyo State.
According to the APC, the President used the funds for Ecological purposes to prosecute the rigging in Anambra State.

The APC spokesman stated that Jonathan doled out N2 billion to 17 states controlled by Governors loyal to him, while none of the APC controlled States got a dime, even when the governor of opposition states requested for such. This attitude they maintained negates who he is as a sectional leader and not the leader of the nation.

“The N2 Billion assistance was given to Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Cross River, Gombe, Ebonyi, Delta, Taraba and Enugu States. Before then N5 billion had been given to Akwa Ibom State ostensibly for ‘urgent matters’, while N8 billion was given to Anambra for the ‘maintenance of the Niger Bridge’, in reality perhaps a slush fund for the stolen gubernatorial election in the State. To the best of our knowledge, even if N8 billion is not enough to construct a second Niger bridge, it will go a long way”.

The party further stated that Mr Goodluck is dishing out the nation’s fund to his cronies, and despite the money given to Gov Peter Obi, no maintenance has been carried out on the Niger Bridge. “We are yet to see any maintenance to justify such a huge fund that was given for that purpose, further confirming our fears on what the real purpose of that money might have been. It is sad that the President whose divisive politics helped to break the ranks of the nation’s State Governors has now graduated to using funds from the Federation Account to dispense favors to Governors perceived to be his cronies.

This is the tragedy of a President who was elected on a pan-Nigerian mandate but has now turned himself to a sectional partisan and most divisive leader in the country’s history”, APC lamented
