Must read

Falconet-brazil-match-612x300Super Falcons interim Coach, Edwin Okon has assured that the senior women national team will soon bounce back to their winning ways.

Okon, who led Rivers Angels to Federation Cup victory against Nasarawa Amazons last sunday in Lagos, said  the international  friendly with Japan this weekend is a pedestal to rebuilding  and returning Falcons to their  pride of  place in Africa.

He reminded that this would be the first competitive match that Super Falcons will be involved in since their fourth place finish at the 2012 African Women Championship(AWC) held in Equatoria Guinea, warning that the outcome of the Japan outing should not be used as a yard stick to access the strength of the girls..

“We are all aware that Falcons have not had any form of match action since they returned from  the AWC in Equatoria Guinea. This international friendly is a starting process to repackage the team.”

Meanwhile, the team left the shores of Nigeria for Japan thursday night to honour the two international friendly matches with the World Champion billed for September 22 to 26, 2013.

Falcons  on Wednesday evening  lost 2-1 to Eko Future Stars as  a final stage preparation for the Japan trip.
