Enterprise Bank moves to protect it’s customers against electronic fraud

The prevention of possible electronic fraud is the one goal of financial institutions. Customers want to feel secured at all times when they do their transactions.
It is to this end that Enterprise Bank Limited, one of the three nationalised banks, has moved to protect its customers against electronic fraud.This move by Enterprise bank would certainly give it’s customers a feeling of additional comfort and security.

The lender said in order to protect its MasterCard holders from cyber crimes, there was a need for them to subscribe to what it called MasterCard Secure Code.

A statement from the financial institution said the Secure Code provided a second level authentication for cardholder when performing online transactions.

It said, “This solution is supported by MasterCard to offer cardholders additional comfort and security of their card details when it is used online.

“When making an internet purchase, the cardholder’s identity is authenticated at the point of payment before the merchant submits an authorisation request.”

The bank said customers could carry out the exercise by visiting its website to register all the MasterCard variants including the debit, prepaid (both in dollar and naira) as well as the credit card, among others.

The Head, Corporate Communications, Mr. Igwe Igwe, was quoted as saying, “The process of securing these cards has been simplified with the following options. The first option enables the customer to register the card at the bank’s website by clicking on the MasterCard Secure Code logo on the homepage and answering few questions.

“The second option allows the customer to go through a MasterCard Secure Code participating merchant, which will then redirect him to the bank’s page to register the card before payment is made.”
