Chairman, Senate Committee on Education, Senator Uche Chukwumerije, is not suffering from stroke, his Special Legislative Adviser, Mr. Azuikpe Ogbonna, said in a statement on Monday.
Ogbonna’s statement, made available to our correspondent in Abuja, was coming on the heels of rumour making the rounds in the last few weeks that the senator has been incapacitated by a strange ailment.
Chukwumerije, through his aide, debunked the rumour, saying that he was very much alive and healthy and had forgiven those behind the rumour.
The statement advised those behind the senator’s rumoured ailment “to change from their wicked ways before it becomes too late for them to escape the wrath of God Almighty who gives and takes away life in accordance to His divine will.”
He congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo, National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu and the National Working Committee, for the successful ratification of the nomination of Jonathan for re-election in 2015.
The statement added, “This is just one of the various tactics of a prolonged campaign of calumny against the person and office of Distinguished Senator Uche Chukwumerije, orchestrated by these few unscrupulous individuals.
“Those behind the rumour have no fear of God in them and will go to any length to blackmail, deceive, shortchange, loot, kill and destroy the people of God’s own State, Abia, just for their own selfish political agenda.
