Contrary to some media reports bent on painting a picture of acrimony and disharmony amongst the ruling class in Bayelsa State, the tireless, ever enthusiastic governor of the state, Hon Seriake Dickson has said all is well in the state.
Gov Dickson who has always been nothing but loyal to President Jonathan, has always fought tooth and nail to ensure that the president’s home state is solidly behind the nation’s number one citizen at all times. The governor laid to rest the rumours of war between himself and other politicians in the state, saying Bayelsa is united, stable and peaceful.
A insider, privy to developments in the state disclosed to Nationwide news that, “yes, there may have been a misunderstanding here and there in the past, but that is politics and human nature for you. A husband can disagree with his wife, as most husbands and wives do on a regular basis. That doesn’t mean that the marriage has come crashing down. Reasonable people will always reason things out among themselves and come to an understanding. And move on. That’s politics for you.
“Jonathan is a good man, he is a listening man. And Dickson is his man, has always been. The president will tell Dickson what he wants done and unless Dickson is tired of the office, of course he will listen to his principal. These are all reasonable men. Don’t mind all that crap some of your colleagues are writing. I can bet you someone is sponsoring those stories.
“I can tell you that if there was a problem between them it must have been sorted out. Trust the opposition to keep whipping up sentiments of hatred amongst brethren. If you doubt what i am saying, check out the newspapers that have been promoting these rumours of war and you will find that they belong to the opposition. The principle is an old one. It’s called divide and conquer. Divide and rule. But they will be disappointed. As the governor has said, Bayelsa is, indeed, united, stable and peaceful.”
The latest rumour of disaffection published by a national newspaper is hinged on the fact that when the delegation from Yenagoa arrived at the Villa to felicitate with the president on his 57th birthday his wife had left the venue.
Nationwide news investigations, however, found that Mrs Jonathan had actually left the venue of the celebration two hours before the Bayelsa delegation, led by Governor Dickson arrived.
And, indeed, the president warmly received the delegation from his home state. He thanked them for the visit, explaining, “On behalf of my wife who just left, I sincerely thank you the governor, the government and our traditional rulers and our brothers and sisters from the state who have done this.”
Dickson had earlier told Jonathan that the delegation was in the Presidential Villa to show their solidarity, support and love to him on his birthday.
He then assured the president and all who cared to hear, that contrary to reports, Bayelsa State is united, stable and peaceful.
The governor later told State House correspondents that he would not dignify those claiming that there is a rift between him and the President with a response.
