Bankole Loses Out, As PDP Announces Isiaka As Ogun Gov. Candidate

Must read

All hope that former House of Reps Speaker, Hon Dimeji Bankole could still emerge as the Ogun PDP guber candidate has been dashed as the national leadership of the party has submitted the name of Alhaji Gboyega Isiaka as its governorship candidate for the 2015 election to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Before the primary that produced Isiaka, the national leadership of the party, through its National Working Committee, had directed its Ogun State chapter not to hold the primary.

The directive, which was sent to the Ogun State chapter of the party by the NWC and signed by Metuh said, “For the avoidance of doubt, the NWC hereby states that it did not authorize any governorship primary in Ogun state.

“Consequently, any such exercise held in Ogun state is hereby declared null and void and of no effect. A new date will be communicated for the primary.”

But the directive was ignored as the party, led by its Chairman Mobilising Committee in the South-West, led others to elect Isiaka.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, told our correspondent that stakeholders of the party said that they didn’t get the directive on time.

He said this was the reason they gave when they (the stakeholders) came to make presentations to the NWC members.

With this latest development, the Buruji Kashamu faction of the party in the State has again had the upper hand, to the chagrin of other party leaders in the state, like Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo
